Longreach & Winton Experience

Longreach is in the geographical heart of Queensland. There are some fascinating things to see and do in this part of the world – a region that attracted bush and pioneers like the early post world war one pilots who formed the Queensland and Northern Territory Arial Services, QANTAS. It also the home the famous Stockman’s Hall of Fame.

Winton has a rich history as the birthplace of Waltzing Matilda and links to the Great Shearers’ Strike of 1891, but is just as well known today for something far more ancient, DINOSAURS! The region is home to diverse natural history and spectacular landscapes such as rolling Mitchell Grass suddenly interrupted by jump up Mesa formations and starkly beautiful red earth. There is no doubt, This is Big Sky Country !!!
