Welcome to our 10 day tour to the Great Ocean Road and Kangaroo Island. Our starting point for the tour is Melbourne and on arrival at the Airport under your own arrangments (please arrive prior to 2pm) your tour host and coach will be waiting to greet you. We then make our way into the city and take a sightseeing tour from the comfort of our coach followed by check in to our hotel before we transfer to the Crown Casino for our Welcome Dinner this evening. Today we make our way to the Great Ocean Road for a breathtaking drive along one of Australia’s most spectacular coastlines. We pass through the coastal towns of Torquay and Anglesea to Lorne. We stop for a wander around this popular seaside village. From Lorne we continue onto Apollo Bay for tonight at the Skenes Creek Lodge, which looks directly out to the Southern Ocean. Our journey this morning winds its way through the forests of the Otway Ranges and we arrive at the spectacular Otway Fly – a tree top walk, the longest and highest canopy walk of its kind in the world. The tree tops view of the Otway’s is an experience well worth the effort! We enjoy morning tea before we arrive to see the iconic Twelve Apostles. We then stop in Port Campbell for some free time. This afternoon see the ill-fated London Bridge while we traveling along – The Shipwreck Coast. (B, D) Mid City Motor Inn, Warrnambool:
A guided tour of Warrnambool this morning and its interesting history. We also enjoy a tasting at Cheeseworld, then on to the Botanic Gardens. Following some free time in the town centre, we spend the remainder of the afternoon at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. We wander through the State Heritage listed Lady Bay Lighthouse. Flagstaff also holds the richest collection of Shipwreck artifacts in Australia. We make our way back to our hotel for dinner, then return to enjoy the wonderful sound and light show called “Shipwrecked”. This is a spectacular show that takes us on a journey through raging seas, and unforgiving coastlines. (B, D) Mid City Motor Inn, Warrnambool:
Port Fairy today and discover its rich maritime history and its colonial character have been faithfully preserved in original Victorian buildings. From here we travel through to Portland for lunch at the Richmond Henty Hotel. Our drive this afternoon takes us through Nelson to Port MacDonell. This is SA most southerly point and is a rugged coastline with uninterrupted views. We then arrive in Mt Gambier in time to freshen up for our dinner. (B, L, D ) Comfort Inn Silver Birch, Mt Gambier
Our first appointment this morning is at the new Blue Lake Visitors Centre where we will meet our guide for our tour. We hear a fascinating story with comprehensive information about this most unique volcano. From here we travel to Robe. This historic port with streets of heritage cottages and loads of character, is well worth a visit. We then make our way to Coorong National Park and cross the Murray River at Wellington and on to Victor Harbor.

This morning we travel through to Cape Jervis to board the Ferry Service to Kangaroo Island arriving in to Penneshaw. We plan to visit a few unique ventures today . The first one is Clifford’s Honey Farm – home to Kangaroo Island’s own population of Ligurian bees producing 10,000 kilograms of honey each year. Then the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery
Eucalyptus Oil distilling was once one of Kangaroo Islands major industries. We are taken on a tour and enjoy lunch here. This afternoon we visit Island Pure – a local sheep dairy, and then we make our way to our accommodation in Kingscote for the next two nights. Our hotel is located on the foreshore with stunning views overlooking Nepean Bay. (B, L, D) Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kangaroo Island
There are two major wildlife areas we have planned to visit today – Seal Bay and the Flinders Chase National Park. First up we meet our guide and head for famous Seal Bay for our chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Sea Lions. It is an unforgettable experience to be guided by a National Parks Ranger, within metres of the bulls, cows and sea pups. We then head to Flinders Chase National Park and stop for lunch at The Chase Café at the Visitors Centre. This afternoon we visit Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic and Admirals Arch where, via a spectacular board walk, we can see close up a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals who live in the sea and the rocks just below us. This morning we head to Penneshaw and join the ferry service back to the mainland. From Cape Jervis we return to Victor Harbor for some free time to look through the various shops and cafes. This afternoon we drive the Southern Vales wine region on our way to Adelaide and check into our hotel for our Farewell Dinner. (B, D) Adelaide Rockford Hotel
Following breakfast & check out we make our way to the seaside suburb of Glenelg for some free time and site seeing before we have a short transfer to the Airport for your flight home.
