Today you will depart on the Spirit of the Outback Train departing Roma St Station for your journey to Longreach in your Economy Seat or upgrade to the Sleeper Cabin with all meals. Relax and enjoy the views of the rugged mountain ranges and farming areas of the coast before making our way inland to the Queensland Outback.

Upon waking this morning on the train, the green hills of the coast have given way to the colour of rustic reds and sunburnt plains. We pass through historical towns of the Outback on our way into Longreach arriving late afternoon when we will transfer to our motel with time to freshen up for our evening activities.
We enjoy the Luminescent Longreach Show which is a 20 minute spectacular night time light and sound experience designed to delight, entertain, inform and move. Stand amongst iconic aircraft as world class projection mapping and 360 degree immersive sound brings the 100 year story of Qantas to life with the mighty Boeing 747 serving as a primary canvas. Luminescent Longreach weaves an unforgettable story through time, of the daring spirit of early aviation, of iconic aircraft, wars, distant places and outback innovation.

Following breakfast this morning, we make our way to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame. We explore the Long Paddock and join our virtual stockman “Hugh” on a journey retracing the footsteps of the men and women who built our nation. Then we enjoy A Stockman’s Life –Live Show: Undercover grandstand seating in the Outback Stockman Arena, up close and personal experience with the stars of the show –human and four legged, live sheep muster, working dogs, horsemanship and stockman activities. Following our morning at SHOF, we make our way into Town and enjoy some time to wonder the historical streets and grab a bite to eat if you wish.
Late afternoon we enjoy a relaxing cruise as the sun sets over the Thomson River, then arrive at Smithy’s Outback Dinner for a camp fire cooked dinner.

This morning, we visit the Qantas Museum enjoying the many Qantas stories and a tour of the 747, Original Hangar and Museum.
We are then entertained at The Tent Show while enjoying an included Billy Can lunch.
We finish the day with a Paddock to Plate Sunset Tour. We explore the rich history and workings of an ex-sheep station, the iconic Camden Park Station before transferring to Longreach Station for our Paddock to Plate dinner experience.

Winton today and visit the new Waltzing Matilda Center. This unique town has lots of interesting things to see. We then make our way to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History.
We will have a guided tour of the Museum which houses the largest collection of unique Australian dinosaur fossils. We then have the most unique dinning experience at the museum, BBQ on the JUMP UP: Relax and enjoy a Aussie Outback BBQ with the dinosaurs. It’s time to unwind and watch the amazing sunset over the vast Savannah plains.

Departing Winton we make our way to Cloncurry and the Walkabout Creek Hotel. If it sounds familiar, then it should. This quirky hotel was made famous in the blockbuster movie Crocodile Dundee. Inside the pub you’ll find plenty of memorabilia from the days when Paul Hogan swaggered up to the bar as Mick Dundee. These days you are assured of a hearty pub meal and great outback hospitality. Following our stop here, we continue on to Cloncurry and then into Mt Isa for a 2 night stay.

Outback at the Isa today and take part in the Hard Times Underground Mine Tour and Outback Park. We then visit the WW2 Underground Hospital and the Beth Anderson Museum.

Departing the Isa, we travel through the vast outback plains to the tiny town of Julia Creek for lunch.
Departing to Cloncurry and on to Richmond which is part of Australia’s Dinosaur Trail and Kronosaurus Korner is Australia’s premier marine fossil museum. It showcases nearly 1,150 unique fossil specimens found around the region. Fossils from the area include the 100-115 million year old remains of extinct marine reptiles.

Today we make our way to the outback town of Charters Towers, exploring the town with its grand public buildings lining the main streets. A must-do experience is the 150 years old Venus Gold Battery (Mill) which crushed ore from the underground mines to extract the valuable gold before enjoying our farewell dinner together.

This morning, we make our way to Townsville to board the Spirit of Queensland train for your relaxing journey towards Brisbane.

Today the Spirit of Queensland will finish the journey arriving at your home station with cherished memories of the QLD Outback.
